iTheatrics: About Us
Educators can improve their directing and producing skills by studying with the folks who created Music Theatre International’s Broadway Junior, KIDS and School Edition collection of musicals!

This series of intensive professional development courses have been created in association with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, are sanctioned by the New York City Department of Education and have been presented at top performing arts centers all over the country.

The iTheatrics’ Junior Teaching Intensives are unlike any other professional development opportunity available. These events are full immersion, hands-on and guaranteed to engage and revive a teacher’s creative spirit.Choreo-a-phobes embrace their inner Mikhail Baryshnikov; confirmed non-singers solo like Sinatra.

The iTheatrics Junior Teaching Intensives give teachers all the tools they need to direct an all-school musical. The teaching team leads a small group of teachers (or any other person directing a musical for kids) through interactive activities, which address all aspects of musical theatre production – from casting, staging and choreography, to rehearsal techniques and the technical aspects of theatre. Teachers will learn how to make the process of producing a musical fun while motivating their cast, crew and production “family” to achieve their very best. Each participant will walk away with ideas on building strong support systems for their own theatre productions, engaging more students in the planning, rehearsal, and performance aspects of a musical, and involving the whole school and surrounding community in their shows. Each session even includes one-on-one time, when educators may discuss their own specific obstacles and possible solutions with each other and the iTheatrics team.

All participants also attend a performance - it might be sneak-peek of a new educational theatre title starring students, a full-fledged musical theatre production, or both! - to reinforce what they have learned and gather inspiration and ideas for their own shows.

The iTheatrics Teacher Training is a mini retreat, which puts teachers’ needs, ideas, creativity and fun first. This friendships and support network lasts long after the conclusion of the workshop!

The iTheatrics Junior Teaching Intensives take place in New York City and in select cities across the country.
